About the Agency
The National Blood Authority (NBA) is a key Australian Government statutory agency responsible for securing and managing the supply of blood, blood products and related services across Australia.
Established under the National Blood Authority Act 2003, the NBA manages a substantial budget, almost $1.9 billion in 2024-25, in collaboration with Commonwealth, state and territory governments. Through national procurement, supply planning and sector improvement, the NBA delivers critical health outcomes for Australians.
About the Role
The Australian Government is seeking an outstanding individual to lead the NBA as General Manager. This statutory position is the Agency’s most senior executive and is appointed by, and reports to, the responsible Commonwealth Minister.
The General Manager is the Accountable Authority of the NBA and is responsible for leading the agency’s strategic direction, operations, financial and risk management, stakeholder engagement, and governance. The role involves close collaboration with the Department of Health and Aged Care and jurisdictional representatives under the National Blood Agreement.

Candidates must be Australian citizens and will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the appropriate level.
