Indexed lists of departmental and agency files
Under Senate Order 12(Opens in a new tab/window), all Australian Government departments and agencies must produce an indexed list of files created in the previous 6 months. The Australian Government Minister for Health and Aged Care (the minister) tables these lists before parliament.
The list includes files relating to:
- policy advising functions
- development of legislation
- other matters of public administration.
The list does not include:
- case-related files (e.g. personal representations or dealing with the personal affairs of departmental or agency clients or taxpayers)
- files related to the internal administration of our department or agency (e.g. staff or personnel matters)
- files transferred to the National Archives of Australia.
Under the Senate Order, we must:
- publish an online indexed list of all files created in the previous 6 months
- provide a letter of advice to the minister stating that the indexed list has been placed on our website.
We create a new list every 6 months, starting on 1 January and 1 July each year. These are our most recent indexed lists of files.
